"Quick Slide" slide frame

This innovative slide frame, named Quick Slide, was designed by Peter Florjančič in 1966 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for the German company Geiüplast. Its main advantage was the quick and easy replacement of slides without the risk of damage. The invention was a real revolution for the photography industry, as it simplified archiving and image presentation. With this product, Florjančič once again demonstrated his ability to identify small everyday inconveniences and solve them with simple yet effective technical solutions. The frame soon became widely used across Europe.

"Parfumerie de France Award" – Monte Carlo, 1947

In 1947, Peter Florjančič received the prestigious Parfumerie de France award in Monte Carlo for one of his most successful inventions – the perfume spray atomizer. During this period, he collaborated with famous names in the perfume industry, including Elisabeth Arden. His innovation revolutionized the way perfume was applied, allowing for an even spray – something we take for granted today. This award affirmed Florjančič’s place among the most influential inventors of his time. Monte Carlo remained a symbol of his golden years of creativity and international recognition.

Peter Florjančič in his office at Hotel Kompas – 2017

In this 2017 photograph, we see Peter Florjančič in his office at Hotel Kompas, where he occasionally worked. On the desk stands a metal model from 1972 representing a patent sold to the company Babcock. This was one of his most profitable inventions, earning him 1.5 million German marks in royalties. This space was not just an office – it was his personal laboratory of ideas, where the past met the future. The photo reflects the respect he maintained for his creations even in the later years of his life.

Underwater therapy in the pool of Hotel Kompas

Peter Florjančič was always ahead of his time – even in the field of health and rehabilitation. In the pool at Hotel Kompas, he tested his innovative underwater therapy devices: Body Fir, Ortofit, and the latest Triofit-Watertristar. These products combined movement, massage, and water resistance to improve posture, aid recovery from injuries, and promote general well-being. The idea of turning a hotel pool into a therapeutic lab showcases Florjančič’s ability to connect everyday spaces with advanced ideas. Even in his mature years, he remained an inventor with a heart and vision.

In the autumn of his life, Peter Florjančič remained faithful to the place that inspired him – Bled.

Hotel Kompas meant more than just a place to him; it was a corner of peace, reflection, and gratitude. He loved to drink coffee while gazing at Bled Castle, in the company of his thoughts and memories. Here, he united innovation with the tranquility of nature – this was his way of creating until the very end.

Hello, allow me to introduce myself

Peter Florjančič was one of the rare individuals who dared to live like a novel – full of imagination, twists, and boundless energy. In his later years, he gladly observed how his story was being passed on – even through the words of others. The book Strastna kri (Passionate Blood) was not just a record of his life but a bridge between generations. This moment is a quiet introduction to a man who left the world more than just inventions – he left behind a story worth reading.

The Monte Carlo Story, 1956

For a brief period, life took Peter Florjančič into the world of cinema. In 1956, he appeared in the film The Monte Carlo Story, alongside the legendary Marlene Dietrich and Vittorio De Sica. The black-and-white photo captures a moment of elegance and glamour – a scene at the table where art, charm, and high society blend into a cinematic dinner. This, too, was a part of his rich and extraordinary life mosaic.

Elegant lighter from Davos, 1945

Among his earlier inventions was an elegant women’s lighter with a side ignition, which he designed in 1945 in Davos. The product quickly became popular among ladies of the time, as it combined practicality with aesthetics. The photo shows Peter Florjančič in his later years, smiling as he lights one of his first successful patents. It was a moment of nostalgia – a memory of the spark where it all began.

Visions of the future – Monte Carlo, 1957

In the second half of the 1950s, Peter Florjančič developed the plastic zipper – a lightweight, flexible, and versatile product that opened up new possibilities in the textile and technical industries. At the same time, he was also thinking about car safety and proposed a protective airbag system – an idea that was far ahead of its time. The illustrations show both concepts, which reflected what defined Florjančič the most: a visionary mind and the courage to realize his forward-looking ideas.

PalBib – more than just a napkin, 2012

In 2012, Peter Florjančič developed and patented the innovative multi-purpose napkin PalBib, which combined seven useful functions. In addition to the classic decorative and hygienic role, it also protected clothing – as an apron or chest shield. Easy to use and elegant for table settings, it was primarily intended for upscale hospitality. PalBib was another of his ideas where functionality met aesthetics – turning an everyday item into something special.
